From mountains and seas, skyscrapers and jungles, herders to diggers and pineapple sellers, soldiers, sailors and intergalactic villains, wet ones, dry ones, old and young - it would appear that everybody enjoys a little jump once in a while.
This all began in 2009 when I wondered to myself:
‘These serious strangers I see everyday rushing down the street, how can I put a Smile on their faces?’ I proposed a simple question to my friend Alex:
“Alex, if I ask that couple over there to jump, do you think they’ll do it?”
Well, to cut not such a long story shorter - Yes, they jumped...and so it began.
I loved this simple gesture, it created a moment of truth as if a social veil had been lifted, nudging people towards their innerchild and inviting them to share a moment of pure expression. For me it was an ice-breaker, a reason to apprach and connect with people that would otherwise pass me by in a fast moving world. People would let go and inherently expressed themselves - a moment of gravity defying detachment captured mid-air.
Over the years as I continued my journey around the globe, I used this simple request as a constant to document the diverse places and people that resided there
I began archiving my collection with the aim of collating the series into a book, a universal book that had the power to make any human being simile.
